The breaking vaccine could eradicate breast cancer, shows 75% immune response in trial

The most common cancer in women – and one of the deadliest – may have finally won their party.

The development of an advance from vaccine researchers, say that it could eradicate breast cancer by 2030 ended in the first phase of its clinical trial this week, with more than 75% of women showing a strong immune response, measured by the antibodies of their white blood cells.

The vaccine is aimed at preventing and treating breast cancer, which affects one in eight women.

“It’s very exciting,” said Dr. Amit Kumar, CEO Biosciences, who is designing the vaccine along with the Cleveland Clinic.

During the first phase of the test, researchers gave the vaccine to 35 women, most with a triple negative breast cancer, the most lethal form. It is the guy who hungryly brought Angelina Jolie to undergo a double preventive mastectomy at the age of 37, after learning that he had the genetic mutation of the disease.

Women had the blood drawn periodically to measure the level of antibody production in their T and B cells, two types of white blood cells, against the alpha-lactalbumina, the molecule led by the vaccine.

Researchers said that the only side effect observed was irritation at the site of injection.

“It is a very new mechanism and we think that if it works and is able to prevent cancer, we may be able to eliminate breast cancer as a disease, as we have done for polyomyelitis and several other infectious diseases,” Kumar told The Post.

The second phase, which will begin next year, will test the vaccine in a larger group and for other types of breast cancer.

“Cancer vaccines have been very, very difficult to develop,” he added. “There has never been a successful cancer vaccine.”

Unlike vaccines for infectious diseases, which are aimed at foreign organisms in the body as a virus, cancer is a different ball game, as it grows from a person’s own cells.

“Cancer cells arise from your healthy cells … so the immune system is not able to see in a very different way that the cancer cell is a bad cell,” Kumar said.

Cancer vaccine research has mainly directed proteins that are shown in a higher concentration in cancer cells, but this results in the immune system that also attacks healthy organs that show the protein.

But something unique for breast cancer is one of the proteins of cancer cells-the alpha-lactal lactalbumine lactation protein is not present for most of a woman’s life, except for pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Thus, a scientist at the Cleveland Clinic had the idea in 2018 to guide himself in the alpha-lactalbum and vaccinate women who did not plan to have more children, which caused the judgment.

“It is a very new mechanism and we think that if it works and is able to prevent cancer, we may be able to eliminate breast cancer as a disease, as we have done for polyomyelitis and several other infectious diseases,” Kumar told The Post.

The study, which was seen as an innovative medical research, is receiving funding from the United States Department of Defense. Kumar hopes that he will not be affected by current federal financing cuts.

“There is a lot of uncertainty,” he admitted.

Researchers are planning to present their findings at the White House this year.
